Louis Lucien Baclé , also Louis-Lucien Bâclé , (born February 17, 1853 in Auteuil , Département Oise ; † November 20, 1938 ) was a French civil engineer .

Professional background

Louis Lucien Baclé was a son of the farmer Louis Marie Baclé († 1918) and his wife Lucie Anasthasie, geb. Square.

He studied from 1872 in Paris at the Ecole Polytechnique and from 1874 at the Ecole Superieure des Mines .

He worked for four years as an engineer at the Compagnie des chemins de fer du Nord and then moved to the Compagnie des Forges de Châtillon et Commentry . There he successfully specialized in the manufacture of military products.

Finally, in 1890, he joined the Marrel Frères factories in Rive-de-Gier , where he worked as an engineer and administrator for 48 years. He served as the company's vice president until his death and his advice was still greatly appreciated.

voluntary work

Since the beginning of his career in 1882, he was a member of the French Society for Civil Engineers, in which he was particularly active for 56 years: in 1904 as a member of the committee, in 1922 as department president and finally in 1926 as president. He was also President of the Society for the Promotion of National Industry, Vice President of the Society of Farmers of France, President of the New Aid Society and President of the Curial Council of St-Vincent-de-Paul de Paris and Saint-Crépin-Ibouvillers (Oise). He was also President of the Association of Alumni de l'Ecole des Mines from 1905–1906 and 1912–1919 and President of the Committee for the Deceased of the Ecole des Mines de Paris.

Appreciation

His services to industry and the country have brought him many awards: the Officer's Cross of the Legion of Honor and officer status at L'Instruction Publique, the silver medal at the Paris World Exhibition in 1889 and the silver medal of the French Association for the Advancement of Science and Society Promote national industry.

He has published extensively in the Génie Civil and in the bulletin of the Société d'Encouragement and edited several books:

His technical and administrative functions did not prevent him from turning to moral speculation as in the following publications:
