Louis Meijer
Johan Hendrik Louis Meijer (born March 9, 1809 in Amsterdam , † March 31, 1866 in Utrecht ) was a Dutch landscape and marine painter.
biography
He received his first training with Joseph Jodocus Moerenout , then at the Amsterdam Art Academy with Pieter George Westenberg and Johann Willem Pienemann . In 1827 he went to Paris for further studies, after which he lived again in Amsterdam, from 1839 to 1839 in Deventer, from 1839 to 1841 alternately in Antwerp and Maastricht, from 1841 to 1855 in Paris. From 1855 he lived in The Hague.
Matthijs Maris and Jacob Hendricus Maris were among his students and staff .
