Louis Vervaeke (born October 6, 1993 in Ronse ) is a Belgian cyclist .
Athletic career
In his youth, Vervacke played tennis and later devoted himself entirely to cycling. In 2012 he signed a contract with the UCI Continental Team Bofrost-Steria and moved to the Lotto-Belisol U23 team the following season . He finished the two stage races Tour des Pays de Savoie and Giro della Valle d'Aosta in 4th place.
After he was able to convince in 2014 with the overall victory of the Ronde de l'Isard and the Tour des Pays de Savoie, where he also won a stage, he was accepted by the Lotto-Belisol professional team in July . In the same season Vervaeke won the 7th stage of the Tour de l'Avenir . In 2015 the Belgian contested his first Grand Tour at the Giro d'Italia , but had to give up on the 16th stage. In 2016 he finished the Tour of the Basque Country in 11th place overall and finished his first Grand Tour at the Vuelta a España .
For the 2018 season he decided to switch to Team Sunweb . He was part of the team for the Giro d'Italia and had to retire on the 19th stage.
