Love Dance is a Norwegian indie pop band from Bergen .

Band history

In 2003, Eirik Vestrheim and Kristopher Straus formed a band and named it Try Happiness after talking about it for two years. Oliver Goetzl from the German label Marsh-Marigold Records soon approached the two of them, who wanted to release a 7 "single and an album with them. You should know where I'm standing was the duo's first recorded song. Finally, Kjetil K Ullebø joined the band now called Love Dance . Bjarte Hundvin joined the band later. In 2005 the group made their self-titled debut, which attracted attention in the indie scene, followed in 2007 with the album Result , which received good reviews The band also played at the Marsh-Marigold Festival in 2008 on the occasion of the label's 20th anniversary.

style

The songs are written by Eirik Vestrheim and Kristopher Straus together and deal with experiences from their everyday life. The lyrics are characterized by both social realism and escapism . Love Dance's music can be described as sparkling and flowing, which is mainly due to the lack of guitars. The looseness in the sound is based on bands of the C86 movement and bands from Sarah Records such as The Go-Betweens and Felt . There are also echoes of Belle & Sebastian and Kings of Convenience , a Norwegian band that also came from Bergen. The songs are melodic and polyphonic in quality with an uplifting melancholy.
