Love Live! School Idol Project ( Japanese ラ ブ ラ イ ブ! , Rabu Raibu! ) Is a manga series by Sakurako Kimino and Arumi Tokita . It has been published in Japan since 2012 and has received several spin-off mangas, video games, a light novel and an anime television series. In addition, concerts with the voice actors and singers from the film adaptation took place for the series revolving around a Schuler Idol group, and many of the themed or recorded pieces of music were released on CD by Lantis . The high school student Honoka Kōsaka ( 高 坂 穂 乃 果 ) loves her school and is saddened when it closes because there are too few new applicants. While visiting her little sister's school, she meets her little sister's idol school band A-Rise, which is popular at school and beyond. Then Honoka founded their own idol group μ's ( ミ ュ ー ズ , Myūzu / muse) together with her friends Umi Sonoda and Kotori Minami in order to make their school better known and to attract new applicants. They succeeded and soon they took part in the national Love Live competition for school bands.

Book publications

The manga was published in January 2012 by ASCII Media Works initially in the magazine Dengeki G's Magazine . In June 2014 he switched to Dengeki G's Comic . The chapters have also been collected in four volumes so far. Since November 2016, Egmont Manga has been publishing a German translation, currently in five volumes.

Since May 2013, Love Live! School Idol Diary is a light novel about the series, written by the manga writer Sakurako Kimino and illustrated by Akame Kiyose , Natsu Otono and Yūhei Murota . So far, 11 parts have come out. A second manga, written by Kimino and drawn by Masaru Oda, which is based on the light novel, started in Dengeki G's Comic in June 2014 and has so far reached an anthology.

Anime adaptation

Directed by Takahiko Kyōgoku , Sunrise 2013 produced a 13-part anime adaptation of the manga. The main writer and screenwriter was Jukki Hanada , while Asako Nishida and Yūhei Murota were responsible for character design. The artistic direction was Yukihiro Watanabe . The series began broadcasting on Tokyo MX on January 6, 2013 , and was also shown on Nippon BS Broadcasting Corporation , Aichi Television Broadcasting and YTV with a few days' delay . In 2014 a second season followed by the same team, also with 13 episodes. An English dubbed version appeared on DVD and was broadcast by Mnet America, Hero TV showed the series in the Philippines . The platform Crunchyroll published the anime with subtitles in German and English, among others.

2015 came with Love Live! The School Idol Movie released a film about the series. The production comes from the same team as the series. After the premiere in Japan, it was shown in the USA, Great Britain, the Philippines and Taiwan. 2016 followed with the anime series Love Live! Sunshine !! a spin-off .

The music for the series was composed by Yoshiaki Fujisawa . The opening credits are underlaid with the song Bokura wa Ima no Naka de ( 僕 ら は 今 の 中 で ) by μ's. For the first credits, Susume → Tomorrow ( ス ス メ → ト ゥ モ ロ ウ ) by Emi Nitta , Aya Uchida and Suzuko Mimori was used. The following were underlaid with the Kitto Seishun ga Kikoeru ( き っ と 青春 が 聞 こ え る ) in different versions.

Video games

In April 2013, Love Live! School Idol Festival a first video game to the franchise. The smartphone game was developed by KLab and published by Bushiroad - also internationally in May 2014. In August 2014, Love Live! School Idol Paradise by developer Dingo Inc. and published by Kadokawa Games for the PlayStation Vita .
