Lu Kang

Lu Kang (Chinese: 陆 慷; * May 1968 in Jiangsu Province ) is a diplomat from the People's Republic of China .

Career

In 1993 LU joined the foreign service. At the same time he worked from 1993 to 1996 as a consultant and attaché for the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1996 to 1999 he was assigned to the mission at the UN headquarters in New York City . Subsequently, from 1999 to 2000, he was third class diplomatic secretary in the International Organizations and Conferences Department.

From 2000 to 2001 he studied at the National University of Singapore , which he completed with a Masters in Public Policy . From 2001 he was second-class legation secretary, deputy head of department, head of department in the arms control and disarmament department, a position he held until 2006. From 2006 until 2008 he was Counselor in Dublin , Ireland .

From 2008 to 2010, he was Counselor, Deputy Director General of the Department for International Organizations and Conferences, and headed the Chinese delegation at the sessions of the Asia-Pacific Economic Community . From 2010, he was Deputy Director General of the Department of North American and Oceanic Affairs. Since 2015 he has held the office of envoy in Washington, DC . Since 2015, he has been Director General of the Information Department , an office that includes the role of Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China .
