Luca Zanatta (born May 15, 1991 in Pieve di Cadore ) is an Italo - Swiss ice hockey player who has been playing for EHC Olten in the Swiss League , the second highest division in Switzerland, since 2017 . His father Ivano and his brothers Michael and Alessandro were also internationally active for Italy.

Career

Luca Zanatta, who comes from Pieve di Cadore in Veneto, began his playing career in the youth department of HC Lugano , but also played for the U19 of SG Cortina . The 2006/07 season he spent with the Notre Dame Hounds in the Canadian Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League. He then returned to Switzerland, where he first played again for HC Lugano in the highest Swiss junior league and in 2008/09 at HC Ceresio in the third-class first division . In 2009 he moved to SG Cortina in the Italian Serie A1 and won the Coppa Italia with the club in 2012 . From 2014 to 2017 he played with HC Red Ice in the Swiss National League B , but was also used once in the Playoffs of National League A by Genève-Servette HC in 2016 . When HC Red Ice stopped playing for financial reasons, Zanatta switched to league competitor EHC Olten in 2017 , for whom he has been on the ice since then.

International

Zanatta, who did not play internationally in the junior division, made his debut for the Italian national team in the 2013/14 season . He played in Division I at the 2015 and 2018 World Championships and took part in the Top Division World Cup in 2017 . He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang .
