Lucasischer Chair of Mathematics
The Lucasian Professorship of Mathematics is a professorship at Cambridge University . It is considered one of the most prestigious university chairs ever.
It was donated by Henry Lucas (around 1610–1663), a member of the university in the English House of Commons , in 1663 by transferring land to the university to finance the chair at Trinity College .
The first Lucasischer professor was the mathematician Isaac Barrow , whose successor was Isaac Newton in 1669 .
