Lucchesi Palli (also: Lucchese Palli ) is the name of an Italian noble family that belongs to the high nobility .

history

The Lucchesi Palli are a Sicilian noble family with presumed origins from Lucca , who first appeared in a document at the beginning of the 15th century. Gastone Lucchese is mentioned in 1455. Bernardo Lucchesi Palli (1470–1526) donated a Madonna chapel in Naro Cathedral .

In 1625 Fabrizio Lucchese, Barone della Grazia († 1631), as a result of his marriage to Eleonora del Campo e Grimaldi, Baronessa di Campofranco, received the hereditary title Principe di Campofranco in Primogenitur . Later the title Duca della Grazia was added. The current title holder is Don Pietro Lucchesi Palli, 13th Principe di Campofranco, 10th Duca della Grazia (* 1943).

A family palace is in Montescaglioso . The Villa Campofranco in Santa Flavia , the Palazzo Campofranco in Palermo and also the Palazzo Steripinto in Sciacca came into the family through inheritance.

Ettore Lucchesi Palli , Duca della Grazia, was the son of the Prince of Campofranco, former Prime Minister of the King of Naples and Viceroy of Sicily. In 1831 Ettore married Maria Karolina in Rome , a Sicilian king's daughter by birth and her first marriage to a widowed daughter-in-law of King Charles X of France. She returned to France the following year, where Charles X had been overthrown by the July Revolution of 1830 in order to regain the throne for her son Henri d'Artois . However, her followers were defeated, and she was only released from prison after her second marriage became known. The couple went into exile in Austria, where they acquired the Brunnsee Castle in Eichfeld (Styria) in 1834 and the nearby Weinburg am Saßbach Castle in 1837 . Both are still owned by great-grandchildren, Count Ferrante and Michael Lucchesi Palli. Henri d'Artois later took up residence at Schloss Frohsdorf in Lower Austria.
