Lucien Mettomo

Lucien Mettomo (born April 19, 1977 in Douala ) is a former Cameroonian football player . In addition to the Cameroonian citizenship, he also has French citizenship.

The defender began his career in his home country with Ocean Kribi . In 1996 he moved to the French club AS Saint-Étienne , for which he was used for the first time in Ligue 2 two years later . This season he came to a total of 33 missions and scored seven goals, which he had a large share in the rise of the club. In the next two seasons he lost his regular place in the defense at Saint-Etienne and also experienced relegation from Ligue 1 in the 2000/2001 season . After five matchdays in Ligue 2, Mettomo moved to Manchester City on the British island . For the Premier League club he played 23 times in his freshman year. However, after he only acted as a substitute player in the following season, he moved again at the beginning of the 2003/2004 season, this time to the German club 1. FC Kaiserslautern . With the red devils he came to a total of 32 missions in his first two seasons and scored two goals. For the second half of the 2005/06 season he was loaned to the Turkish first division club Kayseri Erciyesspor . On July 26th, 2006 Mettomo signed a 2-year contract with the Swiss Super League club FC Luzern . In the summer of 2007 Mettomo did not appear at the start of training and refused to continue playing for FC Luzern. In September 2007 he found a new employer in the English club Southampton FC .

He made his debut in the Cameroon national team in 1997 against Nigeria. With the indomitable lions he won the African Championships in 2000 and 2002 ; In 2004 he was also on the squad. He also reached the final of the Confederations Cup in 2003 . Mettomo was also in Cameroon's squad at the 2002 World Cup, but was not used in his country's preliminary round.
