Lucina da Costa Gomez-Matheeuws

Lucina Elona da Costa Gomez-Matheeuws ( April 5, 1929 - January 7, 2017 ) was a politician of the Netherlands Antilles who was Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles for a short time in 1977 .

Life

Da Costa Gomez-Matheeuws was a member of the National People's Party ( Nationale Volkspartij ) and was a member of the parliament of the Netherlands Antilles between September 1969 and July 1970, from June 1971 to July 1971 and between September and December 1973. In addition, she was a member of the Island Council of Curaçao from June to July 1971 .

She was Minister for Health and the Environment from 1970 to 1977 and Minister for Welfare, Youth, Sport and Leisure from 1971 to 1977. She was also Vice President of the National People's Party from 1971 to 1976.

As the successor to Juancho Evertsz , she briefly became Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles in August 1977 and was replaced shortly afterwards by Leo Chance . She also acted as Minister for General Affairs and, as such, was also responsible for Foreign Affairs and Defense. Later she was a member of the Council of Counselors (Raad van Advies) .

Lucina da Costa Gomez-Matheeuws was with the politician Moises Frumencio da Costa Gomez , who died in 1966, who was also head of government of the Netherlands Antilles in 1949 as Chairman of the College of General Administration and between 1951 and 1954 as Chairman of the Government Council.
