Lucius Ansius Phoebus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lucius Ansius Phoebus was an ancient Roman Toreut ( arch-builder ) from Capua . A signed work by him, a bronze bath bowl that was found during excavations in Pompeii , has survived. A signature identifies him as the creator of the bowl. It is dated to the first half of the 1st century, accordingly the phase of life of Lucius Ansius Phoebus must be set in this time. The bath bowl is now in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples .
