Lucky McKee (* 1. November 1975 in Jenny Lind, California as Edward Lucky McKee ) is an American director , screenwriter and producer .

Life

Lucky McKee grew up in a modest family. At the age of twelve he made his first amateur films together with a friend using an old video camera. After graduating from Calaveras High School, McKee moved to Los Angeles in 1993 to study at the University of Southern California's School of Film-Television. In 1997 he left Los Angeles and came back to California. In 2001 he made the low-budget horror film All Cheerleaders Die with Chris Sivertson . It followed u. a. the films May (2002), Red (2008) and The Woman (2011). In 2013 the remake All Cheerleaders Die was released . The end of 2014 he took over a segment of the anthology -Filmes Tales of Halloween , in which the directors Darren Lynn Bousman , Axelle Carolyn , Adam Gierasch , Andrew Kasch , Neil Marshall , Mike Mendez , Dave Parker , Ryan Schifrin , John Skipp and Paul Solet with are on board. This was followed by Blood Money (2017) and Kindred Spirits (2019).

Awards (selection)

At the Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya , McKee was awarded the prize for the best screenplay in 2002 and 2011. For May he was awarded the prize for best screenplay and best film at the Malaga International Week of Fantastic Cinema. He received the Premiere Award in 2003 at the Festival international du film fantastique in Gérardmer.
