May - The Seamstress of Death (Original title: May ) is an American horror film from 2002. Lucky McKee wrote the script and directed.

May Kennedy was born with an eye defect and made no friends as a child with an eye patch, making her a quirky adolescent. As an adult, her eye is corrected, but the strange May still has no friends. The nurse's only ally is her doll Susy, which her mother gave her.
She hides more and more in loneliness until she meets the attractive, nice trash director Adam, who rejects her, however, because she is too crazy even for him. She begins volunteering to look after blind children. She comforts herself with her lesbian colleague Polly, who, however, betrays her terribly and on whom she wants to take revenge.
Suddenly she starts killing the people she finds partially attractive (e.g. Adam's hands, Polly's neck etc.) and sewing their body parts together to create the perfect friend. During her mission, she turns, at least outwardly, into a vamp . When May has finished her work “Amy” (an anagram of her own name), she notices that her new best friend cannot see her because Amy has no eyes. In a final fit of despair, May cuts out her right eye with a knife and, with screams of pain, places it on Amy's face. Then she leans her head on her "perfect friend" and sees, in a kind of hallucination, how Amy comes to life and caresses her gently.

It premiered on January 13, 2002 at the Sundance Film Festival and was screened in the following months at numerous national and international festivals (including the Cannes International Film Festival , the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival , the Fantasy Filmfest Hamburg and the World Film Festival ).
