Ludger Schwienhorst-Schönberger

Ludger Schwienhorst-Schönberger (born May 19, 1957 in Lüdinghausen , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and university professor for Old Testament biblical studies at the University of Vienna .

Life

Schwienhorst-Schönberger studied philosophy, theology and adult education in Munich , Catholic theology in Münster and theology in Jerusalem . After receiving his doctorate in theology in 1989 and his habilitation in 1992 in Münster, Schwienhorst-Schönberger was appointed professor of Old Testament exegesis and Hebrew language at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Passau in 1993.

From 2005 to 2007 he was visiting professor at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna ; since June 2007 he has been Professor of Old Testament Biblical Studies and director of the institute of the same name at this university.

Schwienhorst-Schönberger pleads for a rediscovery of the exegesis of the church fathers .
