Michael Millner

Michael Millner (* 1948 in Heiligenkreuz ; † November 8, 2002 in Graz , Styria ) was an Austrian neuropaediatrist , child and youth psychiatrist and pianist.

Early years

Millner studied music and composition after graduating from school . He composed and arranged pieces and appeared in several well-known bands as a pianist, such as in 1970 with Music Machine together with Schiffkowitz , around 1974 with Turning Point and as a guest player with STS 1975 he recorded his only solo single under Peter Müller . He then switched careers and studied medicine, while music remained a sideline.

Pediatrics

After completing a pediatric neuro-orthopedic training at the LKH Stolzalpe , Millner became a pediatrician and set up a neuropediatric outpatient clinic in the children's department at the LKH Leoben . In 1986 he became a senior physician in the children's clinic of the LKH University Hospital Graz . In the following years Millner did research, among other things he published articles in The Lancet and wrote the books Neuropaediatrics. Causes and Forms of Disability and The Beta Child. The abuse of television and child development . Millner became head of the Austrian neuropediatrics working group and later president of the German-Austrian society for neuropediatrics.

In addition to neuropediatrics, Millner also became a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry in 1981 . In 1993 he became a university lecturer , in 1995 he completed his training in systemic family therapy , in 1996 he obtained the diploma for psychotherapeutic medicine from the Austrian Medical Association, and in 1997 he became an associate professor . From 2000, Millner was department head he co-founded joint institution of Neuropsychiatry of childhood and adolescence between the University Hospitals for neurology , psychiatry and child and adolescent medicine in Graz.
