Ludwig Gustav Voltz
Ludwig Gustav Voltz (also Louis Gustav Voltz, born April 28, 1825 in Augsburg , † December 26, 1911 in Munich ) was a German animal and landscape painter as well as draftsman and illustrator.
Ludwig Gustav Voltz was the son of the painter and copper engraver Johann Michael Voltz (1784-1858) and the younger brother of Johann Friedrich Voltz (1817-1886).
He attended the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich from November 2, 1842 .
First he was influenced by the battle and genre painter Peter von Hess , then by the landscape painter Adolf Heinrich Lier .
Voltz specialized in horse painting and painted horse portraits especially for the princes Thurn and Taxis and Wallerstein. Later he devoted himself to hunting painting. He provided illustrations for the Munich picture sheet .
He exhibited his works at art exhibitions in Vienna since 1848 and in Munich since 1854.
Ludwig Gustav Voltz was a member of the Munich Art Association .
