Ludwig Ring

Ludwig Ring (* 1929 ; † 2005 ; also Louis Ring ) was a graphic designer and film producer from Saarland . He attended the Master School of German Crafts in Kaiserslautern and in 1948 was one of the founders of the Saarland design group, which later changed its name to Saarmesse GmbH.

Professional background

Between 1953 and 1956, Ring produced four special postage stamps for the Saarland's postal and telegraph administration on the occasion of the annual Saar fairs. In 1960 he won the Saarbrücken poster competition with the Franco-German pair of figures Michel and Marianne . The poster was used for many years to advertise the Franco-German Garden and was reactivated as a badge in 2010. Ring went into business for himself with Ring-Film in 1960 and produced advertising films. In addition to his work for the Saarmesse, his customers were the Karstadt group, Saarländischer Rundfunk , Peugeot , Karlsberg and many others.
