Ludwig Vincent Holzmaister
Ludwig Vincent Holzmaister (born July 31, 1849 in Mährisch Trübau , † March 23, 1923 in New York City ) was an American manufacturer and patron .
Live and act
Ludwig V. Holzmaister first worked as an accountant in Vienna until he emigrated to New York in 1867. He became a successful manufacturer and internationally active businessman. He made several trips that took him to Japan, India, Burma, Tibet, etc. In doing so, he collected numerous valuable art and cultural objects. He felt a lifelong connection to his hometown, and so he donated his collections to it. Since there was no appropriate space for it, he had a representative museum building built between 1904 and 1906. Local, cultural exhibits and certificates were also shown here. As a result of the post-war events, many exhibits have been lost.
