Ludwig von Türcke (politician)

Ludwig Freiherr von Türcke (born August 29, 1857 in Meiningen ; † October 16, 1933 there ) was a German minister of state and district administrator .

Life

Türcke was born in Meiningen, the state capital of the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen . After attending the local high school Bernhardinum and dropping the baccalaureate, he studied at the universities of Leipzig and Jena jurisprudence . He then joined the Meiningen administrative service in 1888. From 1896, Türcke was district administrator in the Hildburghausen district and from 1901 district administrator in the Meiningen district until he was appointed to the State Ministry in Meiningen in 1908 as a Saxon-Meiningen government councilor . In 1912 he was appointed to the secret council of state and headed the interior affairs department.

After the November Revolution , the Meiningen Landtag elected Türcke, who was not affiliated to a party, as First Minister of State and Chairman of the State Council in the new government of the Free State of Saxony-Meiningen . Here he took over the internal and external departments. After the Free State joined the newly formed state of Thuringia , he was head of the regional government of Saxony-Meiningen from 1921 to 1923. In 1923 Türcke retired.
