The Luganoiidae are an extinct family of bony fish . The group lived in the Middle Triassic . So far, fossils have only been found in Lombardy .
features
The Luganoiidae combine features of the cartilage and bone organoids . Their caudal fin is almost homocerk , dorsal and anal fin have only a few fin rays. These are not structured in their body-near section. The gill cover has no interopercular, the front cover (preoperculum) is disc-shaped and has a forward-downward protrusion. The individual bones of the roof of the skull can be fused into a single plate-like bone.
