The Lugert Verlag GmbH & Co. KG is a music publisher , which refers to music education has specialized magazines and books. The family business is based in Handorf . The program focuses on the magazines “Praxis des Musikunterrichts”, “Musik und Studium”, “POPi.G. - Pop music in elementary school ”and“ Music in daycare ”.

Publishing history

In 1981 Wulf-Dieter Lugert and Volker Schütz founded the “Institute for Didactics of Popular Music” and organized advanced training courses on popular music in music lessons. Treating pop music in class was not a given back then. In the beginning, the notebooks were written with a typewriter and handwritten notes were glued into them. The result was then copied and stitched together by hand.

The first "Green Issues"

In the course of the following years the institute expanded the product range: The first books, booklets and audio cassettes on various special topics were published.

In 1998 the "Lugert Verlag" was founded. Since 2011, the management has been in the hands of Sebastian Lugert, the son of the publisher's founder Wulf-Dieter Lugert. Meanwhile, magazines and materials are published from kindergarten to high school. The publishing house develops and sells the music notation program FORTE and offers musical instruments.

A new offer since 2016 are two-day "congresses" for teachers and educators. In workshops, lectures and concerts, speakers from Germany and Austria give a variety of suggestions for educational practice in daycare centers, primary schools and secondary schools.
