Udo Zilkens

Udo Zilkens (born July 1, 1964 in Wuppertal ) is a German musicologist , composer and music teacher .

Life

Udo Zilkens studied school music, composition , aural education , musicology , pedagogy and mathematics in Cologne . He completed his music education training as a student trainee at the Humboldt Gymnasium in Düsseldorf . Zilkens received his doctorate in 1994 on the subject of Beethoven's finals in the piano sonatas at the University of Cologne with Hans Schmidt . In Edition Tonger he published the series Famous Music Works in the Mirror of Their Interpretations with studies on Vivaldi, Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Debussy and Bartók from 1993 to 1999 . Since 2000 he has mainly composed piano works, but also orchestral works. He is currently working as a music and mathematics teacher at the Schloss-Gymnasium Benrath . Zilkens is the author of Guitar Methods for JelGi-song accompaniment in different languages and the first chairman of a non-profit organization founded in 2010, the nationwide in cooperation with municipal libraries, family education centers, day care centers and schools JelGi courses Everyone learns guitar offered for adults and children.
