Handorf is a municipality in the district of Lüneburg in Lower Saxony .
geography
The place is in the northeast of Lower Saxony , between Lüneburg and Hamburg . Along with Bardowick , Barum , Mechtersen , Radbruch , Vögelsen and Wittorf, he is a member of the Bardowick municipality .
history
Around 1450 the village had three farms and is listed in the special property of the Winsener treasure register.
In 1934 the people of Handorf discovered that the National Socialists had committed electoral fraud in their village. Thereupon the conservative farmer Hermann Stein proclaimed the Handorf Republic and renounced Berlin. A week later, Hermann Stein was arrested and sent to prison in Winsen.

Sports
The sports club MTV Handorf, which was founded in 1921, has four different departments: football , volleyball , tennis and gymnastics and currently has around 800 members. Handorf also has its own shooting club , which was founded in 1939 and currently has around 250 members.

Handorf can be reached by car via the federal motorway 39 (Hamburg – Lüneburg), the name of the junction is “Handorf”. To the north there is a fixed Elbe crossing in the course of the B 404 to Schleswig-Holstein with the Elbe bridge Geesthacht . Handorf is connected to the regional bus network by the line 5402 ( Winsen (Luhe) - Rottorf - Handorf - Bardowick - Lüneburg ) of the Hamburg transport association . In addition, route 4714 runs in the morning for Airbus employees to the Airbus plant in Finkenwerder .
