history
The first written tradition of the place name as Repinstid comes from a document from 1197, before it became Reppenstedt as early as 1234 . The village originally consisted of at least four full farms and one aristocratic manor.
An important prerequisite for the development of Reppenstedt was the building of the so-called Old Lüneburger Landwehr from 1397 to 1406. A Landwehr house, the Ulensborg / Eulenburg, with a tower and two barriers was built at the Landwehr passage in the village.

coat of arms
The old Lüneburger Landwehr , which still exists in the area of the community, has become the defining "landmark of the Reppenstedt coat of arms". It is shown in the form of a five-fold wavy, inclined "dividing line of the coat of arms". The horseshoe in the coat of arms refers to the municipality belonging to Lower Saxony. The oak leaves are a symbol of "the ancestral Lower Saxony population and indicate that the municipality of Reppenstedt is part of the Gellersen community". Finally, the "silver one" reminds of those fellow citizens who had lost their home after fleeing or expelled from the former German eastern territories and who were able to find a new home shortly before or after the end of the Second World War in the area of today's Gellersen municipality - mainly in Reppenstedt Heraldic shield with the high cross (Deutsches Ostkreuz) ”.
Community partnerships
In 2003, Reppenstedt joined the community partnership that has existed since 1993 between the communities Kirchgellersen , Südergellersen and Westergellersen on the one hand and the French communities Ambrumesnil , Longueil , Quiberville and Ouville-la-Rivière in Normandy on the other.
Culture and sights
The old Lüneburger Landwehr , a historical rampart from the 14th century, runs through Reppenstedt. The wooded section between the Reppenstedt town center and Vögelsen offers a special impression of the structure and size of the facility. An unpaved forest path makes it possible to hike the entire route.
traffic
Reppenstedt is connected to the transport network via various country and district roads. There is a heavy bus service to Lüneburg. These are the lines of Kraftverkehr GmbH ( KVG ). One-way tickets to Hamburg can be purchased within the framework of the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV). In addition to the public transport, a car sharing station and the call collection mobile or call collection taxi are available.
