Dahlem is a municipality in the district of Lüneburg in Lower Saxony .

Dahlem is located on the western edge of the Elbhöhen-Wendland Nature Park . The community is part of the Samtgemeinde Dahlenburg , which its administrative headquarters in the spots Dahlenburg has.

history
Origin of the place name
Old names of Dahlem were 1330-1352 Dalem, 1355 Dalem and 1380 Dalem. There are two ways of interpreting names. Either Dahlem can be traced back to a Slavic name or it means "valley and" pasture place "(from" Dal-ham "). Dahlem is easiest to explain with" settlement in the valley "(" Dal-hem ").
Incorporations
For the territorial reform in Lower Saxony , the communities Harmstorf and Köstorf were incorporated into the community Dahlum on March 1, 1974.

The council of the municipality of Dahlem consists of 8 council members. The eight council members are elected by local elections for five years each. The current term of office began on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.
