history
The village of Neetze was first mentioned in a document as Netisse in 1205 , when Wilhelm von Lüneburg donated a court to the canons of Lübeck Cathedral . The name is taken from the older river name. The root of the word means "wet", "flowing", "river", "body of water". Other forms of name were 1238 Netesse, 1282 Netesse and 1314 Netessen.
In the vicinity of Neetze, several villages became desolate at the end of the Middle Ages, such as Wentorf, which probably went out as early as the 12th century, and Tewinkel, of which three farms appeared in a document from the Lüne monastery in 1318. One kilometer north of Neetze was the place Niendorf (not to be confused with Niendorf near Reinstorf). Niendorf still existed in the 14th century, the last document is from 1383.
On July 28, 1743, twelve houses and 19 outbuildings were cremated in a fire in the village. Another conflagration broke out on September 29, 1850, which destroyed 20 buildings, including nine residential buildings. 21 families were left homeless.
