The Luia is a tributary of the Zambezi in Mozambique .
course
The river has its source 35 km southeast of the border triangle with Malawi and Zambia . It flows directly towards the border region, but curves 1.5 km from the border with Zambia and flows back in a south-westerly direction. After another 100 km, it changes its course again to the west, only to bend sharply to the south after another 20 km. Here it takes up the two tributaries Vuboe and Muangadeze from the north. It flows 100 km further south and finally flows into the Zambezi 20 km below the Cahora-Bassa dam . Shortly before the estuary it takes in the Cherize coming from the east and its largest tributary, the Capoche coming from the northwest .
Hydrology
The flow rate of the river was measured at the mouth in m³ / s (values read from the diagram).
