Luigi Mengoni

Luigi Mengoni (born August 25, 1922 in Villazzano near Trento , † October 19, 2001 in Milan ) was an Italian legal scholar and judge at the Italian Constitutional Court .

Luigi Mengoni, brother of the politician Flavio Mengoni , was born in Villazzano, now a parliamentary group of Trento, in 1922 and studied law in Milan at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore , which he completed in 1944 with a thesis on commercial law. In 1951 he was appointed Associate Professor of Civil Law at the University of Trieste . In 1954 he was able to return to the Cattolica and take a chair in commercial law there, and in 1957 he switched to a chair in civil law. Mengoni ended his academic career in 1987 when he was appointed judge at the Italian Constitutional Court by the President of the Republic.

From October 24, 1995 until he left the institution on November 3, 1996, he was Vice President of the Constitutional Court. Mengoni was a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei , and from 1998 to 2000 President of the Associazione italiana del diritto del lavoro e della sicurezza sociale (German: Italian Association for Labor Law and Social Security ).

Mengoni's scientific publications on labor law are of particular importance .
