Luigi Pigarelli (born December 15, 1875 in Trento , † April 25, 1964 ) was an Italian lawyer and pianist and, in his spare time, a composer , arranger and mountain climber . Some of his arrangements have been published under the pseudonym Pierluigi Galli .

Pigarelli completed a law degree at the University of Graz and subsequently worked between 1902 and 1945, first as a public prosecutor , then as a member of the Supreme Court of Appeal. Thanks to his pianistic skills, Pigarelli was able to arrange numerous folk songs, more than 90 of which he dedicated to the Coro della SAT . From 1945 to 1958 he was President of the Trento Philharmonic Society.

Pigarelli's best-known work is the famous mountain song La Montanara ; the main melody, composed by Toni Ortelli , was arranged by Pigarelli to form a fully harmonized male choir.
