Luis Alfonso Sosa (born October 5, 1967 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ) is a former Mexican football player who mainly played in midfield and began working as a coach after his active career .
Life
Club player
Sosa began his professional career in the 1985/86 season at Club Universidad Guadalajara , with whom he was runner-up in the Mexican Primera División in 1989/90 and won the Mexican Cup competition the following season .
In 1993 he moved to Puebla FC , where he also spent two seasons as well as his next stop at Club León . He then was under contract for one season each with CF Monterrey and the capital club Cruz Azul , before moving to CF Pachuca in 1999 , with whom he won the Mexican football championship twice over the next four years.
Sosa he ended his active career in the service of Gallos Blancos de Querétaro , with whom he relegated to the second-rate Primera División 'A' at the end of the 2003/04 season.
National player
He made his debut for the Mexican national team in a friendly against El Salvador (8: 0) held on March 29, 1988, in which he scored a goal just like in his second international appearance on April 26, 1988 against Honduras (4: 1) . By 1991 Sosa made a total of eleven international appearances before he was reactivated again in January 2002 for the games for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2002 and completed another three international appearances.
Trainer
Following his playing career, Sosa began a coaching activity and was first entrusted with the role of head coach at his former club Club Leones Negros de la Universidad de Guadalajara at the end of 2011 . Two years later he succeeded with the Leones Negros winning the second division championship of Apertura 2013 and at the end of the 2013/14 season the first division promotion in the final against city rivals Estudiantes Tecos . Two years later he succeeded in winning the second division championship with Club Necaxa at the end of the 2015/16 season and the return of the multiple Mexican champions to the upper house of football.
