Luis Carlos Perea

Luis Carlos Perea (born December 29, 1963 in Turbo ) is a former Colombian national soccer player .

Between 1987 and 1994, the defender made a total of 78 international appearances for Colombia , scoring two goals. At the World Championships in Italy in 1990 and in the USA in 1994 , Perea was in his country's squad and was used in six games during the two tournaments. In 1990 he reached the second round with his team, and in 1994 he was eliminated in the preliminary round.

At the Copa America he reached the semi-finals with the Colombian team in 1987, which were lost to Chile. In the game for third place, the Colombians won against Argentina with Perea. Six years later, Colombia faced Argentina in the 1993 Copa America semi-finals. After Argentina won on penalties, Colombia played for third place and won that game against Ecuador. Perea had played in all five games up to the semi-finals, but paused against Ecuador.

Perea spent most of his professional career at the Colombian club Independiente Medellín , where he started in 1983 and stopped in 1998. In between he also played for Atlético Nacional (1988–1990), Atlético Junior (1994), Necaxa (1994), Toros Neza (1994/1995) and Deportes Tolima (1996).
