Luis Enrique Flores Ocaranza , known as Luis Flores or by the nickname Lucho ( Spanish for the fighter) (born July 18, 1961 in Mexico City ), is a former Mexican football player in the position of striker who has since the end of his playing career works as a football coach .

Life

society

Luis Flores, brother of Ignacio Flores , came from the junior division of the Club Universidad Nacional , where he received his first professional contract before the start of the 1979/80 season and with which he won the Mexican championship and the Copa Interamericana in 1981 . After seven years with the Pumas, he moved to the Spanish Primera División , where he played for Sporting Gijón in the 1986/87 season . He then returned to his home and to the Pumas, in whose ranks he 1987/88 in the season top scorer of the Mexican League was before in the 1988/89 season once again in Spain - this time for FC Valencia - played. He came back to Mexico after just one year and played two seasons each for Cruz Azul , Atlas Guadalajara and Deportivo Guadalajara .

National team

His debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on November 29, 1983 could hardly have gone better: Flores scored all four goals for "el Tri" and thus celebrated a debut of the special when the Mexicans saw a disappointing 4: 4 against Martinique Art.

Flores scored his last international goal on April 25, 1993 against Canada (4-0) and his last international match was on June 30, 1993 in a 2-0 win over Ecuador.

The highlight of his international playing career was his participation in the 1986 soccer World Cup , which was held in his own country and in which Flores played in all three preliminary round matches against Belgium (2: 1), Paraguay (1: 1) and Iraq (1: 0) and scored the goal for had scored an early 1-0 lead against the Paraguayos.

Trainer

After his active career, Flores worked as head coach for Pumas in 1996/97, Atlético Celaya in 2000 and Necaxa in 2005 . In the 2008/09 season he was a coach at CD Veracruz .
