Quotes

“The Passion and Death, with which Our King and Savior Jesus Christ concluded His holiest life and glorious calling, in order to redeem the whole human race from the miserable bondage of sin and to give them the spiritual salvation of grace, eternal bliss and glory bestow, are the most sublime, divine and hidden mystery that has ever taken place in the world since they created God, or that will ever take place until the end, from whichever side one may always look at the same thing, either with regard to the person who suffers, or what it suffers, or in terms of the purpose for which it suffers.

In order to bring greater clarity to history, it should be useful to consider briefly the occasion which the high priests and Pharisees seized to stir up such a great storm and to resolve in their council, Our Lord Jesus Christ To deliver such a shameful death to Him, to whom they, however much they thought it was good to close their eyes on everything else, could not deny having been a most exalted prophet and a very great benefactor of all their people. At the same time we want to record what Our Lord did on each day of this last week of His life, which we now call the holy week in memory of His most holy death. "
