Luise Schapp

Luise Schapp (born Groeneveld ; born April 11, 1912 in Bunde , district of Leer ; † April 7, 2016 ) was a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ) and from 1970 to 1978 a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

Luise Johanne Groeneveld was born in Bunde as the daughter of Bernhard Heinrich Groeneveld and Gertrud Goudschaal. She was an active athlete in her youth: in 1928 she was the best German long jumper and in 1929 the North German champion over 80 m hurdles. After obtaining the university entrance qualification in Leer in 1931, she attended the Breslauer Sozialpädagogische Frauenschule and passed her exam as a youth welfare nurse in 1934. From 1935 to 1938 she worked in the districts of Köslin and Stolp and as a home manager in East Pomerania . In 1938 she married the philosopher and lawyer Wilhelm Schapp and then studied law in Berlin , Göttingen and Münster . Her two sons were born during her studies, she passed the legal traineeship exam in 1942, and five years later she passed the major state law examination. Together with her husband, she ran a law firm in Aurich from 1948, and from 1956 she also worked as a notary. After the death of her husband in 1965, she continued the notarial and legal practice.

Luise Schapp joined the CDU in 1948. She became a member of the board of directors of Auricher Kreissparkasse. From 1948 she was almost always a member of the council of the city of Aurich and alderman, took over the chairmanship of various committees of the city of Aurich and was chair of the CDU city council group. In 1952 she was elected to the Aurich district council and took over the chairmanship of the personnel committee in the Aurich district.

From June 21, 1970 to June 20, 1978 she was a member of the Lower Saxony State Parliament (7th and 8th electoral terms). In the period from July 8, 1970 to June 20, 1978 she worked there as secretary. In 1983 she received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class .
