Luitpold Adolf Dorn (born April 17, 1935 in Grönenbach - Ittelsburg ; † September 23, 2007 in Bad Grönenbach ) was a German journalist and author .

Life

After attending a Bendedictine boarding school in Kempten, Luitpold Dorn studied philosophy and theology at the Catholic University of Eichstätt and the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen . After his studies he worked as a foreign editor for the Catholic News Agency (kna) .

In 1962 he was the representative of the German Bishops' Conference to report on the Second Vatican Council . From 1962 to 1981 Dorn was the head of the joint office of the German-speaking Catholic news agencies Centrum Informationis Catholicum (CIC) in Rome and built up international cooperation for the CIC.

From 1981 to 1983 he was President of the International Association of Vatican Journalists. In addition, Dorn was the ZDF Vatican correspondent for over ten years .

Dorn accompanied the Popes John XXIII. , Paul VI. and John Paul II on numerous trips. He was considered an outspoken "Vatican connoisseur" and was on friendly terms with Paul VI. and John Paul II. He published several books on the papacy and the Vatican.

Since 1956 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Gothia Erlangen in the CV .
