Lukas Fatten
Lukas Fracht (born September 11, 1692 in Basel ; † February 11, 1751 there ) was a Swiss entrepreneur and Pietist .
Life
Lukas Fatten was the son of his father of the same name, Lukas Fatten (* January 25, 1656; † October 12, 1717), a businessman, and his wife Susanna Hugo. His sister Susanna was married to the silk ribbon manufacturer Jakob Sarasin .
As a merchant and silk ribbon manufacturer, he became a sixth member of the Rebleuten guild in 1715 and thus also a member of the Grand Council .
Lukas Fatten was married to Anna Maria (1699–1727), daughter of Lukas Hagenbach (1680–1751) and his wife Anna Elisabeth Sarasin (1680–1707). They had nine children together.
Pietistic work
Lukas Fatta was the lay leader of the still young city-Basel Pietism of ecclesiastical character and provided, following his mother's footing, his house in the St. Johanns-Vorstadt for conventicles and as accommodation for religious relatives such as Samuel König (1671-1750), Samuel Lutz or Jakob Schmidlin available. Initially it was critically controlled by the religious chamber established by the city council in 1718, which consisted of clergy and secular deputies . In the course of time, he, who was rejected by the rigid separatist Pietists, was allowed to do their thing. With the support of the German founder of the Moravian Brethren , Nikolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf , Lukas Fracht was ousted from the post of head of the Basel Brethren that he had assumed.
He died as the last of his family of refugees, naturalized in 1636 .
