Lukas Meisner (born August 8, 1995 in Braunschweig ) is a German basketball player.

career

Meisner was trained in the youth department of SG Braunschweig and from the 2012/13 season played regularly for the men's team in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . In 2015, he left his hometown to study political science at Columbia University . By the end of the 2017/18 game year, he had played 75 games for the team in the first NCAA division and averaged seven points and 5.3 rebounds per game. His last year in the shirt of the "Lions" was statistically the best of his time in America: He was in the starting line-up in 24 of 25 appearances, scored 11.2 points per match and collected 7.5 rebounds per game. He also hit 43 of his 103 three-point throws (hit rate: 41.7 percent). His rebound statistics were the best of all players in the Conference " Ivy League " that season .

In the summer of 2018, Meisner signed a professional contract with Bundesliga club Medi Bayreuth . Compared to his first year as a professional in Bayreuth (33 Bundesliga games with 2.8 points / game), he increased significantly in the 2019/20 season and scored an average of 10.2 points each in 18 Bundesliga appearances in the colors of Upper Franconia Encounter. In July 2020 he signed a contract in his hometown with the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig .

National team

In 2013 he was part of the German squad for the U18-B European Championship, in 2015 he took part in the European Championship with Germany's U20 national team and in 2017 played with the German student team at the Summer Universiade in Taiwan .
