The Lulworthiomycetidae are a subclass of the sac fungi .

features

The fruiting bodies are perithecia , which are hemispherical to cylindrical or ovoid to ellipsoid in shape. They are sunken or even superficial, have either an opening ( ostiole ), papillae or neither. Hair-like structures ( periphyses ) can occur. The hemathecium , the hyphae tissue between the tubes, consists of paraphyses or has no internal structures. The center of the fruiting body consists initially of pseudoparenchyma , which dissolves when ripe. The hoses are cylindrical to club-shaped or spindle-shaped. They are unitunicate , eight-pore and dissolve when ripe. The translucent spores are thread-shaped or ellipsoidal to spindle-shaped. They are septate near the apex with many septa, or evenly septate, some species form unseptate spores. They are thick or thin-walled, with or without apical chambers. The secondary fruit form has a hyphomycetic structure, the hyphae are translucent, septate and branched. The conidia carriers are thread (micronematous) or semi-thread. The conidia are thread-like or ellipsoid, septate or unseptate, some are culled or tails.

Way of life

The Lulworthiomycetidae live saprobically on wood, sea grass or marsh plants . Some species live parasitically on algae .

Systematics

Maharachchikumbura, et al. (2015) initially divided the newly described subclass into 2 orders and 2 families. The order Pisorisporiales was then later placed in the subclass. Up to the family the system is as follows:
