These multiple plantations were broken up in 1859. The area was reorganized as Getchell Plantation in 1860 and Dallas Plantation in 1870 . The Dallas Plantation was founded on March 5, 1895.

The ski area on Saddleback Mountain has seen a boom in Dallas in recent years, which has also been reflected in the population.
