Kingfield is a town in Franklin County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 997 inhabitants in 447 households on an area of 112.09 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , Kingfield has a total area of 112.09 km², of which 111.68 km² is land and 0.4 km² consists of water .
Geographical location
Kingfield is centrally located in eastern Franklin County on the Somerset County border . The Carrabasset River , a tributary of the Kennebec River , flows south through the area of the town. There are several smaller lakes in the Kingfield area. The largest is the centrally located Tuffs Pond . The surface of the town is hilly, the highest point is the 890 m high Owl`s Head , in the direct vicinity is the 853 m high Black Nubble . Both peaks are to the northwest of Kingfield.

history
Kingfield was Plantation No. after the area was surveyed by Solomon Adams in 1808 . 3, Range 1, of Bingham's Purchase . The first settlers arrived from Massachusetts a year or two earlier. Kingfield was organized into town in 1816. Kingfield was named after William King , the first governor of Maine, who was one of the major landowners and long-time residents of Kingfield.

Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
The Maine State Route 27 runs north to south through the town. It connects Kingfield with Farmington in the south and the Canadian border in the north. Maine State Route 142 reaches the town from the southwest and Maine State Route 16 from the southeast .

There are no medical facilities in Kingfield. The closest are Farmington and Bingham.
