Highland Plantation is west of Somerset County and borders Franklin County . There are only smaller lakes in the town area. The Sandy River flows south through Highland Plantation. The surface is slightly hilly, at 684 m, Clay Brook Mountain is the highest point.

history
Highland was part of the Bingham Purchase and the first settlers reached the area around 1800, which was initially named Smith Town after one of the first families. From 1837 the area was already called Highland Plantation. On February 10, 1886, the Highland Plantation was organized.
