Cornville is a town in Somerset County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010, there were 1,314 inhabitants in 624 households (in the United States, vacation rentals are also counted as households) on an area of 106.03 km².

Geographical location
Cornville is in the south of Somerset County. The Wesserunsett Stream flows south through the center of the area. To the north is Barker Pond . There are other smaller lakes in the area. The surface is hilly, the centrally located, 259 m high Loomis Hill is the highest point.

history
Cornville was organized as a Town on February 24, 1798. Settlement of the area started as early as the 1790s. Initially, the area was named Township No. 2, First Range North of Plymouth Claim, East of Kennebec River (T2 R1 NPC EKR) and as Bernardstown after Moses Bernard, one of the first owners. It got its name because of the good conditions that the country offers for agriculture, especially for growing maize .
An area of the a-mile-and-a-half-wide strip from the Plymouth Claim to the south was added in 1807. Land was given to Milburn, now Skowhegan, in 1831 and 1833.
