West Forks is a plantation in Somerset County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010, 60 people lived there in 124 households (in the United States vacation rentals are also counted as households) on an area of 128.0 km².

Geographical location
West Forks is centrally located in Somerset County. The Kennebec River flows south and forms the eastern limit of the plantation and the Dead River, which flows east, forms the southern limit. The Dead River flows into the Kennebec River in the south of West Forks. There are a few smaller lakes in the Plantation area, the largest being Dead Stream Pond to the north . The surface is slightly hilly, the highest point is the 473 m high Wilson Hill .

history
The West Forks Plantation was organized on March 31, 1893, previously it was organized as early as 1859 to give residents the right to vote. The area was surveyed as Township No. 1, Fifth Range Bingham's Kennebec Purchase, West of Kennebec River (T1 R5 BKP WKR) .
