Chesterville is a town in Franklin County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 1352 inhabitants in 549 households on an area of 97.25 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , Chesterville has a total area of 97.25 km², of which 93.68 km² is land and 3.57 km² consists of water .
Geographical location
Chesterville is in the south of Franklin County, on the border with Kennebec County. The Little Norridgewock Stream flows north through the town, it flows into the Sandy River at Farmington Falls . In the east, the McGurdy's River forms the border to the neighboring town of Vienna. Several lakes are in the area of the town. In the north of Locko Pond , south of it the Sand Pond , in the center the North Pond , west of the centrally located Chesterville Wildlife Management Area the Horseshoe Pond , south of the Norcross Pond . In the north, the Crowell Pond borders the area of the Town, in the south the largest lake, Parker Pond . The surface of the town is hilly, the highest point is the 276 m high Blabon Hill .

history
The first settlers who settled on the rapids of the Little Norridgwock River discovered remnants of palisades and an Indian burial site. There they found human bones and wampumpeag , as well as other relics.
Abraham Wyman, the first settler to settle in the southern part of the area in 1782, initially called it Wyman's Plantation . More settlers followed in the next year, who built mills near the center of the settlement. The name changed to Chester Plantation . The area was organized as a town in 1802.
In 1811 Chesterville received land from the neighboring town of Wilton and in 1847 from Vienna. The Village Farmington Falls is partially located in Farmington and Chesterville.
