Lusiaves is a Portuguese meat production company specializing in poultry.
history
Founded in 1986 in Marinha das Ondas , a town in the district ( concelho ) of Figueira da Foz , the company now employs 1,500 people and in 2010 generated sales of over 200 million euros. Its main production facilities are to this day in the district of Figueira da Foz, while the administration is now located in Marrazes , about 40 km away .
Names
Lusiaves specializes in products made from chicken, which is reflected in the name. The name is made up of the terms Lusitanien (the poetic Portuguese name going back to Lusitania ) and Aves (the Portuguese term for birds or poultry). The company slogan Frangamente bom expresses something similar . It is a play on words made up of the Portuguese word frango (for chicken) and the expression francamente bom (roughly: really good).
Company orientation and structure
In addition to catering and retail, the company supplies u. a. also major national supermarket chains, such as Pingo Doce . Lusiaves has its own production facilities for feed processing, breeding, slaughtering and processing, and also produces eggs. According to the published company philosophy, the company continues to strive for the greatest possible autonomy over all production steps. The Lusiaves Group also includes the Lusifrota forwarding company, the feed manufacturer Meigal, the feed trader Racentro, the Mais Sabor brand, and CampoAves poultry farming, while Lusiaves sells other products under various brand names, e.g. B. Fish (MarGrill) and potato products and grilled sausages (CampoGrill).
Lusiaves has essentially only one production facility, in Figueira da Foz (Marinha das Ondas). Via the company's own network of 13 sales outlets ( Entrepostos ) nationwide , the company intends to continue marketing its products from there, both nationwide and abroad. The company expects continued growth impulses from Angola and Spain in particular .
Lusiaves is a regular sponsor of international sporting events in Figueira da Foz, such as surfing and beach rugby .
