Lutz Dieter Behrendt
Lutz Dieter Behrendt (born February 26, 1941 in Salzwedel ) is a German historian.
Life
Behrendt initially worked as a subject teacher for history and Russian in Klein Wanzleben before becoming a research assistant in the Department of History of the USSR at the Institute for the History of European People's Democracies at Leipzig University in 1964. After additional studies at the Chair for Modern and Contemporary History at the History Faculty of the University of Moscow, he became a senior research assistant in the field of general history at the History Section of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig in 1972 . From 1977 to 1986 he was a lecturer in the history of the USSR at the history section there. From 1986 to 1989 he was head of a research group at the chair for the history of the USSR and the socialist countries of Europe, before he was head of the Institute for the History of Eastern and Southeastern Europe at the University of Leipzig from 1990 to 1991.
In 1999 he became a scientific archivist in the Deggendorf City Archives .
