particularities | Lutzberg settlement |
The Lutzberg is a 322.0 m high elevation and is located on the southwestern edge of the Böller in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .
The Lutzberg was cleared in the High Middle Ages and is used for agriculture up to the present day. Together with the Kolmischer Berg to the west, the mountain is one of the border points of the medieval Gerstengau. On its flank runs one of the most important old roads through the Eisenacher Grund , which led via the hamlet of Lutzberg to Unterellen , it used a ford not far from the Steinau desert on the other bank of the Werra and was escorted by Brandenburg, only five kilometers away .
After the fall of the Wall, the historical course of the Sallmannshausen Rennsteig was reconstructed as a regional hiking trail (label S ). With the help of the Thuringian Forestry Office Gerstungen-Marksuhl, several shelters and rest areas were created.
