Lycium morongii is a plant type from the genus of Lycium ( Lycium ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Lycium morongii is an upright, compact shrub that reaches heights of 1 to 5 m. The leaves are hairless, 12 to 80 mm long and 5 to 34 mm wide.
The flowers are hermaphroditic and four or five-fold. The calyx is bell-shaped and hairless. The calyx tube is 2 to 3 mm long and covered with 0.2 to 1 mm long calyx lobes. The crown is white and cream yellow in color and funnel-shaped. The corolla tube is 3 to 4.5 mm long, the corolla lobes are 1.5 to 3 mm long. The stamens are densely tomentose on the lower 1.5 to 3 mm of the base.
The fruit is a dark purple or occasionally black, spherical berry that is 3 to 4 mm long and wide. Two to eight seeds are formed per carpel .
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.
Occurrence
The species is common in South America and occurs there in Paraguay , Bolivia and Argentina .
