features

The outer shape is pear-shaped ( pyriform ), only Lyncina lynx deviates from it with its elongated body. The species of this genus all have the same characteristic expression of the mantle and the radula . The mantle is the shell that covers the housing and in this genus it has tree-like branched papillae, as otherwise only occurs in the genus Leporicypraea . The radula is a kind of tongue with which the animal ingests food and consists of several rows of "skin teeth". In all species of this genus, the middle “skin tooth” is dome-shaped.
